At Lown Brae, we aim to breed quality, quet Belted Galloways with commercial traits. 

We have been breeding Belties since 1999 and have bred many animals over the years. In 2004, we purchased our first red Belted Galloways and bred our first duns by 2008.

Owners, Colin, Raeline and Sam Walker, were attracted to the breed for a number of reasons:

• being a rare breed, the genetic pool proves challenging to obtain quality genetics
• the quality of the beef 
• the distinctive characteristics of the breed

We have used AI extensively in the past with genetics from Canada, New Zealand, Scotland and the United States. 

Over the years we have had a number of successes at shows in both the stud and steer categories.
